• Art

In art class, we explore and copy the works of famous artists like Frida Kahlo and Henri Matisse in our gorgeous classroom. We learn to compare different styles, strengthen our fine‑motor skills, and activate our creativity in alignment with Illinois early learning standards. We also build social‑emotional resilience by learning to persist through challenging moments.

• ​Makerspace

A recipient of the Dream Award from the Chicago Lutheran Education Foundation, our Makerspace is a place for our students to explore sensory experiences, design structures and landscapes, and activate their limitless imagination through inquiry and curiosity. We learn how to collaborate in construction, experience open-ended challenges, take turns with tools and resources, develop both large and fine motor skills, develop math concepts like spatial awareness, measurement, and 3D shapes, and grow our science skills by asking questions, planning projects, and analyzing outcomes.​

• ​Music

We utilize Kindermusik’s Curriculum to experience visual art, playful noise, and joyful movement in ways that help our cognitive, physical, and social‑emotional growth. When we explore sounds—like rhythm, melody, and silly noise—we build strong auditory pathways that help our brains understand language and patterns. When we dance, we strengthen coordination and engage our creative minds and bodies.

• ​Physical Education

We take part in a structured physical education program that helps our bodies settle, organize, and get ready to learn. As we practice coordinated movement, we build physical regulation skills proven to help our brains focus so we can engage confidently in the rest of our day.

• ​Library

We visit the library to practice listening to new voices and engaging with stories that spark our imaginations. As we explore the shelves, we discover books that feel special to us and build early literacy skills. We also practice choosing, sharing, and enjoying books together.

• ​​Drama

Saint Luke partners with Creative Root at  at DePaul University to provide drama twice a week to all our students. Through theater, Creative Root brings joy, wellness, and connection to the classroom, while aligning their curriculum with the Illinois Learning Standards for Fine Arts as well as Social Emotional Standards.
